“This could be a self portrait,” Terry Redlin remarks. “As a young boy early morning church service was not my favorite activity. I would much rather have been outside experiencing the healing power of nature”. This image is a delightful retelling of that youthful struggle. The boy is playing hooky, fishing on last time before the creek freezes over. His family’s horse drawn carriage is headed home after the service. As the young fisherman ducks behind the bridge railing, he is not noticed, and can only hope his dog will remain silent and out of sight on the stream bank below. This is a must have for Terry Redlin collectors.
